Nick Saban - Buy

Common sense says to sell Saban . He can not do any better . The only way to go is down . But I think Bama can be just as good this year . So buy Saban for another year .

Bobby Petrino - Buy

Petrino is a very good offensive coach & he has the best QB in the conference . Look for the Hogs to continue to get better , making Bobby P. a strong buy.

Gene Chizik - Buy

Big Gene turned the Auburn ship around last year . If Chizik can find an answer at QB ,Auburn could be tough . Things will continue to be brighter at Auburn .

Les Miles - Sell

A strong sell, as fast as you can sell . During the Miles era LSU has won because they have the best talent in the Nation . That won't always be the case .

Miles is the worst at clock management in the league . Worst than Richt . Now ,he has the offense all jacked up . It is time for Miles to go . I can name 10 high school coaches who could do better.

Houston Nutt - Sell

Always go opposite the expectations on Nutt . Just when you think he will win big, he will pee in the Wheaties. Great expectations are part of the Ole Miss DNA. After two Cotton Bowls , Nutt is ready to bust .

Dan Mullen - Buy

Big Dan is doing about as well as you can at State . 5 to 7 wins a year , & the Bulldogs will be happy .

State is the Vandy of the west . Except you don't have to be super smart to go there .Don't think Mullen will stay in Starkville long .

***** Looks like a Celtic - Laker NBA final . Wish it were Magic - Suns , but it won't happen .

That Suns zone is really bothering the Lakers . Don't be shocked if the NBA outlaws the zone defense . I wish I could coach in a league that allows zone & has a shot clock . My team would be hard to score on .Woo Daddy !!!

Today we will buy & sell the SEC - East football coaches . Keep in mind most coaches are most valuable the day they are hired.

Urban Meyer - Sell

I do not think Meyer can keep Florida at the level he has reached . Tebow is gone & Meyer has health issues. Look for the Gators to take a step back

Mark Richt - Sell

Georgia has a so - so year & everybody is banging on Richt. Mark needs a big year to reduce the heat . There are major concerns at QB . It is going to be sticky.

Joker Phillips - Sell

Brand New right out of the box at Kentucky . Most first year coaches drop in value but not all . If Joker can win 7 & beat Tennessee I have made the wrong call.

Steve Spurrier - Sell

The Old Ball Coach is barely hanging on . He is 65 years old & loves the golf course . Steve would not work hard enough to make it in the NFL. I don't see the old dog changing now .

Derek Dooley - Sell

Little Doo is getting to UT at the worst possible time . The Vols are at their lowest talent level in many years . Tennessee will be lucky to win 3 SEC games . It is going to be a long hard road for Vol fans.

Bobby Johnson - Buy

Johnson does as well as possible at Vandy . 5 wins a year will keep them happy . Johnson has a bowl win to his credit . No one could do better in Nashville.

We will do the West later !

***** Every sport has a drug problem . I can't name a sport that does not . The trouble goes from the preps to the pros .

With the money paid today, it is understandable why players would use anything to give them an edge. But why do players in Little League cheat ? Lie about their age & so forth .

I think Sport should open the door . If you can get it use it . It is your health , your body , & your life . If it is that important to you ,you are going to do it no matter what .

If the paying public does not like it , they can stop buying tickets & supporting sponsors . If the money goes down , so should the decision to get the edge .

Money drives everything in sports . As long as there is big money at stake , the Juice is here to stay .

***** Who is Worldwide Wes ? William Wesley AKA Worldwide Wes is a power broker in the sports & entertainment world .

Wes has been around for years but prefers to work out of the spotlight. Wes is John Calipari 's hook - up for all the one & done players .

Wesley is very powerful . He will have a major say in where LeBron James calls home next year . His reach is almost without limit .

***** Fast Thinking - They are fast thinkers at my grocery store . I love Starling bologna . Only problem is the stick is to big . I have to ask them to cut it into two . They don't like to do this .

The other day I asked the young man working if I could have half of this stick of bologna . He didn't say a word , just took the stick & stalked off to the counter .

I figured he didn't know how I wanted it sliced , so I followed . When Mr Charm reached the counter , he said to the butcher " Some a$$h@l* wants to buy half this stick of bologna."

When he looked over his shoulder & saw me standing there he said , " And this fine gentleman wants the other half "

THE LOVE SONG OF JOHN V. CALIPARI

*** Kentucky fans don't be shocked . Every year Cal is your coach you will have a front row seat for the Show Me Some Love summer tour .

The Little Lizard has a huge ego that requires constant attention. Cal will be rumored for every basketball job in the universe & a couple of Prime Minister positions.

Memphis suffered the tour for nine long years . Every year Cal was going somewhere . The school had to give Cal more power & more money to prove they loved him most of all .

This is Kentucky's first year on the tour . Calipari might want to rethink the game with the Big Blue . If Cal is not careful his Alligator ego may overload his humming bird butt .

Kentucky is not Memphis . Memphis was the ugly little sister , while Kentucky is a real deal prom queen . Memphis was not too proud to beg Calipari to stay . I would think Kentucky is .

When Cal leaves it will be for more glitter & glory . The money is not the prime factor . The dollars are Cal's way of keeping score .

Cal will have to look to the NBA to find more glitter & glory than Kentucky .

The Big Blue may be too proud to do all the butt kissing Cal needs . Kentucky knows Cal needs Kentucky much more than Kentucky needs Cal .

Kentucky has won seven national championships , Cal has none . If Cal wins it at Kentucky he will be the fifth coach to do so .Just another dude in line .

After John embarrasses Kentucky by doing the Show Me Love thing , Big Blue fans will ask " Why do we need this turd?"

to coach LeBron in the NBA

***** The NBA is losing a lot of money . I say they will lose more & more . Their product is not very good .

They do not play basketball anymore . This is Roller Derby minus the skates . The WWE has less contact . And there are questions about the refs. It does not look good.

***** Le Bron James will not be in Cleveland next year . James knows his supporting cast is not good enough to win a championship .

LeBron has about 8 prime years left & he does not want to waste it playing with Humpty Dumptys .

One team has told James they will get whoever he wants for teammates & hire whoever he wants as coach . Do not be shocked if James is in New York soon .

***** The NFL is coming to a fork in the road . A player strike is looming . Will the players & owners be stupid & greedy enough to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs ?

Greed & stupidity win out most of the time . Those players had better ask themselves " Where else can I make this kind of money ?" Owners should know the TV bucks will stop if the players are gone .

I say the NFL will commit suicide !

***** Bad Boys like Roethisberger & Taylor will continue to be bad . These guys have ignored the rules since they were in the 8th grade .

Their talent level has given them a pass all these years . They are not going to become rule followers now .

When Taylor was with the Giants , He didn't play the defense called over half the time . Taylor just did what he wanted to .

When the other players & coaches complained, Bill Parcells, Mr. Discipline told them ; " When you are as good as Taylor ,You can do what you want ".

You cannot enable & entitle people & expect them to follow rules .

TEXAS TORNADO HITS GRABALL

***** Graball is a wide place in the road less than 2 miles south of Milan on Highway 45. Back in the day, Graball consisted of about 10 houses , a battery shop, a tractor dealership,an Esso service station ,& a roadside cafe .

Graball is not as bad a place as the name sounds . The Bugg family owned as far as they could see ,which was more than all Graball.

In around 1966 ,a family of Mexicans moved in . The Rodriguez family took over the White House Cafe . Now this is long before we heard tell of Taco Bell . Tacos & tamales were unknown to us .
.

Graball had the only Mexican restaurant between Memphis & Nashville All of this new food & great eating was now presented to us . It was new & wonderful .

But the real attraction of the White House was the Rodriguez daughter who was the waitress at the joint .

Arletia Rodriguez was so pretty it would make your eyes blur . By the time she arrived in Graball she had already broke more hearts than New York City has lights . She is the one who put the Panic in Hispanic !


Jimmy Buffett was singing about Arletia when he sang : " She's a real beauty , a Mexican cutie ,how she got here I haven't a clue".

I would guess Arletia as between 16 to 19 . She did not do school . She played to full houses daily at the White House .

Watching Arletia prance across the room balancing 4 plates was more exciting than the Flying Wallendas on that tightrope .

Oh Me , The old men came to remember , & the young men came to dream . I was a daily customer myself . I developed a love for tacos & tamales & became an awesome tipper .

Every year when the new models came out Arletia got a new blue Chebbie convertible.

After about 4 years Arletia moved back to Texas . Grief counselors had to work over time in Gibson county . Some never recovered .

What I wouldn't give to have Arletia bring me a Deluxe plate of tacos & tamales . I would ask her to bring it real slow .

Arletia is back in Texas ,I think married to that guy that just started the restaurant chain The Happy Mexican .

I bet where ever she is she is driving a new blue Chebbie . ROLL ON ARLETIA !!

***** My mother belongs in the the Mother's Hall of Fame . Mom is closing fast on 82 years of age .

Every decision Mom made was in the best interest of her children . She accomplished her mission as a mother .

What more can be asked of a Mother ? Job Well Done Mom !!!!

***** The Medina Mystic says Peace only comes with certainty . Think about that . You only find peace in things that are certain . Not much peace to be found , is there ?

Some say you can find peace in having money . The Mystic says " BUFFALO CHIPS"

Have you heard of Enron , Stanford Financial, Bernie Madoff , or Charles Ponzi . Ask their investors how certain money is . By the way, our Social Security System is a Ponzi scheme .

Some say material possessions . Ask all the folks between Memphis & Nashville who are floating in their homes .

Life is not certain . When you start a day you don't know if you will see the sunset . You don't know when your name is going to appear on the obituary page .

Gibson County folks used to say " the only things certain are death & taxes ."

Is there no Peace in life ? The Mystic found an answer years ago on a little country church sign . It read :

NO JESUS
NO PEACE

The only Peace you will find in this world is found in Jesus . We know that whatever comes He is in control & loves us unconditionally.

If you dance to the music you have to pay the fiddler . After a lot of dancing , it is so wonderful that Jesus says " This one is on me ".

STORMY WEATHER

*** Chilli Pepper, Buddy , & I have been playing a real fun game . We played 30 hours non - stop last weekend .

It is a simple game . When you get the signal you run get in the closet . The signal can be a siren or a TV or radio announcement .

You stay in the closet until you get the signal to come out . You are most likely to get the signal to get in the closet between 1 & 4 AM .

You sit in the closet with your knees pulled up to your chest . You sit like that in case the end - game happens . In that case ,you can bend over & kiss your BUTT good - bye.

Just when so many people are coming out of the closet , we seem to be going in .

Going to the storm house was a common event ,growing up in Gibson County .My Dad built the finest storm house around. A concrete square completely underground .

The neighbors would join us to wait out the storm . Attendance was around 10 to 15 . Momma always came at the last minute . She did not like being in the storm house & would wait till the storm was upon us to come .

Here she would come running across the yard like Flo- JO , jumping puddles ,& leaping down the steps just before Daddy closed the door . Her late arrival sometimes caused Daddy to cuss .

There we sat , butt to butt ,on benches around the room . Coal - oil lamps provided the light . Folks would catch each other up on the county news while we waited .

We sometimes stayed in the storm house 3 hours or more . Sometimes we had to dash for the shelter 2 or 3 times a night . You could count on Momma being the first one out .

As country folks say " We were afraid of a cloud."

When anyone voiced concern , Momma would always say " If you was right with the Lord ,you would not be worried . " She was a real Barnabas in times of trouble .

The storm house & Dad are gone now`. But hard as it was it beats getting in the closet.
